Rohatsu Zazenkai took place at Rinzai-ji from Thursday, December 18th to midnight on Saturday, December 20th, 2014. The following Sunday morning was Jodo-e, Buddha’s enlightenment day.
Jodo John Candy visited Rinzai-ji on November 9th for our Sunday program. He gave a lively Dharma talk to 15 of our local sangha members, followed by an outdoor lunch after the program. Morning Zendo is held Wednesday through Saturday. Morning zendo includes Choka (morning chanting), Zazen (sitting meditation), Kinhin (walking practice) and Nitten Soji (20 min. temple cleaning).
Evening Zendo
Evening Zendo is held Wednesday through Saturday. Evening zendo includes Zazen (sitting meditation) and Kinhin (walking practice).
Sunday Program
Sunday Program is held every Sunday starting at 10am and ends at 12:00pm. Lunch is served at the end of the program. Newcomers are welcome! Please contact and arrange a practice orientation.
Samu
Samu (Silent Work Practice) is held daily Wednesday through Friday. Work practice usually involves temple cleaning and gardening. Please come to the work bell in your work clothes. Shika or Shoji will give instruction.
Zazenkai
Zazenkai, one-day silent retreat starts at 10 am to 4 pm. It includes a semi-formal lunch and a Dharma talk or recorded Teisho. Beginners are welcome! Please contact and arrange for a practice orientation.
Retreats
Weekend silent retreat starts 7pm on Friday and ends 4pm on Sunday. It includes zazen, kinhin, chanting, formal meals, work period, Q&A and dharma talks. Please call for dates.
