Student Living at Rinzai-ji

Immerse yourself in our tradition and our community by joining us as a residential student.  Gentai-an, our student house, is located right next door to Rinzai-ji and currently has private rooms as well as dormitory space available.

Come visit for a few days or weeks and experience our unique way of life.  Students of our teacher, Joshu Sasaki Roshi, may also arrange for long-term residency either on a full-time participation/workstudy basis or on a part-time participation/rent-paying basis.  Full-time students are expected to engage in our entire schedule, including all work periods, meals and sesshin retreats.  Part-time students have more flexibility in these areas but are still expected to join actively in multiple aspects of our community life.
