The hall is used for the daily meditation and chanting services - the door is always open during formal practice. During Dai-sesshin Sasaki Roshi takes the High Seat for teisho as he has been doing for 40 years in the United States. For special ceremonies and celebrations the sitting platforms are removed and a large carpet is unrolled. On the carpet the ceremony is performed while guest sit in the back on the Zendo on the tans that are transformed into benches.
For Kinhin, the formal walking in between meditation periods, we leave the Zendo through the door on the right side of the Butsudan. The kinhin line reenters through the left door, next to the Tanto seat. << Page 1 |
