花祭り(Hana-matsuri)

Buddha’s Birthday, also known as Hana-matsuri 花祭り (Flower festival) is one of the Three Buddha Ceremonies. It is also a tradition at Rinzai-ji to commemorate our founder, Jōshū Sasaki Rōshi’s birthday on this day. To cerebrate this auspicious occasion, this 7-day retreat is held. Yoshin David Radin from Ithaca Zen Center will be leading this retreat. There will be Dharma talk at 10:00 a.m., Q&A at 7:00 p.m. and private interviews (twice) daily. The retreat begins with informal dinner at 6:00 p.m. on Monday, March 31. Please arrive for Sesshin by the informal dinner. If you need an orientation, please request via email.
