花祭り(Hana-matsuri)

Buddha’s Birthday, also known as Hana-matsuri 花祭り (Flower festival) is one of the Three Buddha Ceremonies. It is also a tradition at Rinzai-ji to commemorate our founder, Jōshū Sasaki Rōshi’s birthday on this day. To cerebrate this auspicious occasion, this 5-day retreat is held. Yoshin David Radin from Ithaca Zen Center will be leading this retreat. There will be Dharma talk, Q&A and private interviews (twice) daily. The retreat begins with informal dinner at 6:00 p.m. on Monday, April 1.

Hashinkyūji: Monday, April 1
Retreat: April 2 (Tue) – 6 (Sat)
Hanamatsuri Ceremony: Sunday, April 7

Yoshin David Radin was ordained as a Zen Buddhist monk in 1983, Yoshin has been teaching Zen and leading retreats for over 30 years. He is the founder of the Ithaca Zen Center and the co-founder of Body Mind Health Retreats in Ithaca, New York. Yoshin is also a poet and songwriter with a great sense of humor and a warm personality.
