We are honored to announce that on Sunday, August 9, 2020, Jiun Varant Arslanian, the head monk of Shōgen-ji in Japan, will be our guest for the online Sunday program. Participants will have the opportunity to speak with him and ask him questions after zazen. Shōgen-ji is one of the strictest of the traditional Rinzai Zen monasteries in Japan and is located on the grounds where Kanzan Egen, the founder of Myōshin-ji, engaged in his post awakening training. The abbot of Shōgenji, Sōgen Yamakawa Roshi, visited Rinzai–ji last year. Shōgen-ji is where Myoren is currently doing a year of intensive practice. Jiun is American, from Los Angeles, and he led the September 2019 sesshin at Rinzai–ji. He will be joining us from Kyoto.
