Jōshū Rōshi, the founding Abbot of Rinzai-ji, established the Publication Review Committee and gave it the responsibility to produce carefully reviewed and expertly translated written records of his spoken teishō and writings. These will be printed or made available in various ways and stand as the official record of Jōshū Rōshi’s teaching issued by Rinzai-ji, the owner of the Intellectual Property Rights to Jōshū Rōshi’s teachings. Any other transcripts have not undergone this process and so are not official records of Jōshū Rōshi’s teaching.
