Acknowledgement and Resolution Statement
In the past, many students were harmed by unwanted sexual advances from our Founding Abbot, Joshu Sasaki Roshi. Due to lack of clarity about the severity of the problem, this behavior continued for many years. As generations of students came and went, the issue remained largely unaddressed and unresolved.
The negative impact on the individuals involved and on the wellbeing of our entire Sangha cannot be overstated. We are fully committed to ensuring that our current guidelines for Right Conduct are strictly adhered to without exception.
